Fernando Torres has urged his Spain teammates to go out on a high by finishing their Euro 2008 campaign as European Champions. | |
The Reds striker admits he is overjoyed by his side's progress to the final of the competition and now wants Luis Aragones' men to go on and match the achievement of 1964 when they took the title on home soil. "It's nice to be in the final, but no one remembers the runners-up," said Torres. "We want to be champions so everyone talks about us at least for the next four years until the next European Championship. "I hope the best is still to come. "It's a big a success that Spain is in the final, but we're not settling for that - we want to be champions." While Torres is confident Spain can achieve their goal in Vienna on Sunday, he admits Germany's record in past tournaments will make them dangerous opponents. "They know how to win tournaments," he added. "They know how to play these games and we know we have be careful because they are the favorites." |
